Learn every step of knitting the Low-key vest - with guidance and support

Cast-on begins February 7, 2026

Knit a vest with confidence in this educational 5-week virtual workshop that combines the structure of an online course with the momentum and support of a knitalong (KAL).

You’ll follow clear, in-depth video lessons that walk you through every part of knitting the Low-key vest, step by step and row by row. I cover everything from tips on picking a size and how to gauge swatch all the way to weaving in ends and blocking (and everything in-between!).

Videos are pre-recorded so you can watch (and rewatch) them whenever it works best for you — it’s like having a knitting teacher right beside you throughout the project.

Lessons unlock weekly as we move through the pattern together, helping you stay focused without feeling rushed. Along the way, we’ll also gather for live Zoom meet-ups for real-time connection, Q&A, and encouragement.

When you enroll, you’ll get immediate access to the first three learning modules covering size selection, yarn choice, and gauge swatching — so you can get prepared before our February 7 cast-on.

What others have to say about my workshops

Hear first-hand from knitters who have participated in my past KAL workshops!

Stellar Learning Experience

Sarah

Elizabeth's Ramona KAL was a terrific learning experience. Comprised of concise modules, I could readily follow each step of the creative process. Being an experienced knitter, I was thrilled and sometimes surprised at the new tidbits of knowledge Elizabeth provided along the way. Furthermore, she responded to email questions thoroughly. Most of all, I appreciated Elizabeth's love of her craft, her friendly personality, and her desire to share her expertise with her students. I highly recommend this course.

Thorough and detailed

Jill

Elizabeth is a great teacher! Her video learning modules are very thorough and she anticipates issues or questions a novice would have. If you email her with a quandary or a mess up, she's very quick getting back. I sort of taught myself how to knit during Covid and her Ramona cardigan is the first garment I've knit, that I'd be willing to wear in public! It's been a joy to learn from her and the course is worth every penny.

Excellent class

Catherine

This class was worth every penny. Elizabeth has a very clear, professional way of explaining techniques while acknowledging that there is more than one way to do things in knitting. The video lessons were excellent and clear. Although I didn't finish the sweater in the time of the workshop, I know that I have the lessons to follow to complete it in my own time. I recommend this class to anyone new to sweater-making, or anyone who would like to brush up on skills. Elizabeth was very accessible via email for any questions that I had.

Outstanding

Jacqueline

My first KAL so had no idea what to expect. Loved every bit of it. The weekly videos (personal, professional, very clear and complete instructions), live zoom sessions (great opportunity to touch base and hear questions from other participants), email access to Elizabeth between sessions (Elizabeth was very responsive and always provided helpful feedback, advice and solutions). I’ve been knitting for a lot of years and I learned so many new things during the KAL. It spoiled me and I’m kind of scared to knit without her in my back pocket!

I learned sooo much

Jennifer

I've been knitting for years, and have learned that there's always something more to learn! In that spirit, I thought it would be instructive to join the Ramona Sweater KAL. And learn I did -- from tiny but useful tips (finally, my binding off in pattern looks the way it should) to learning how to size a sweater based on the gauge I achieve -- all in a very accessible format. Elizabeth's teaching style is calm, thorough, and easy to follow. Overall, a great experience.

Loved it

Mary

I LOVE Elizabeths classes/knitalongs and this platform is easy to use to rewatch. I’ve now taken 3 of her classes in January and I am looking forward to the next one! She is a great teacher pulling from her experience of working in a yarn shop and by answering so many questions during these classes and questions posed from people who email her. She really wants to share her knowledge of knitting to help others.

Worth every penny

Barbara

This workshop is top-notch. Elizabeth’s attention to detail and presentation clarity is second to none. There was not a single question that arose in my mind during the knitting of this project that wasn’t clearly answered in the workshop. And I learned techniques to improve areas in my knitting in which I had felt perfectly confident. This workshop will benefit not just newer knitters but also those of us who have been knitting garments for a while. And Alanis is just the cutest project. I enjoyed knitting it with this workshop so much!

Wonderful course

Ilya

I was a relative beginner when I took this course, only having made scarves, cowls, a blanket. This was my first garment, and I learned so much! Elizabeth is an excellent teacher, and with her thorough and calm instruction, I felt supported all the way.. She completely demystified the intimidating pattern and the process felt entirely doable. I can’t wait to do another of her workshops!

FAQ

  • What are the pre-requisites for this course?

You should know the knitting basics, like how to knit, purl and cast-on (since this isn't a 'learn to knit' class), but that's it! All of the other techniques will be taught in this course.

  • Is the pattern included with this course?

Yes, the Low-key pattern PDF can be downloaded in the first "Introduction" video lesson (scroll under the course player to access the download). If you would like it added to your Ravelry library as well just send me an email after you enroll.

  • Are the demonstrations worked in English-style or Continental- + Add FAQ style?

I knit English-style (so holding the working yarn in my right-hand). So all of the demonstrations in this course are shown in this style of knitting.

  • What language and format is available?

This course is in English and I have created accurate English captions for the hearing-impaired.

  • What is the enrollment process?

Upon clicking any of the "enroll" buttons on this page, you will be directed to a checkout page where you'll enter in your email address, name and credit card information. Then once you click the "complete purchase" button, you will be asked to create a password so that your account can be created. You will then receive 2 emails: a receipt for your purchase and a welcome email that provides you with 4 action steps to take before the KAL officially begins on February 7th.

  • Can I access the course after the KAL?

Yes! You'll have access to the Low-key course for 2 years.

  • When will the 3 Zoom meet-ups take place?

The first Zoom is our official "kick-off" event and will be held on Saturday, February 7th at 1pm EST (I'm based in Maine). The 2nd Zoom will be on February 21st and the 3rd Zoom will be on March 14th. All Zoom's are recorded and a link is sent out later that same day so if you can't attend live you can watch it at anytime during the KAL.
