About the Soundtrack Cowl

The Soundtrack Cowl features a fun, 2-color slip stitch colorwork pattern. If you've never worked any type of colorwork before this is a great place to start!

There are 2 versions of the Soundtrack Cowl pattern (you'll get copies of both versions when you enroll). "Soundtrack Cowl" uses worsted-weight and "Summer Soundtrack Cowl" uses sport/DK-weight. You can follow either version in this workshop.

FAQ

  • What are the prerequisites for taking this course?

  • Is the pattern included as part of this course?

Yes, both versions of the Soundtrack Cowl patterns (the original and the "Summer" sport/dk version are included). There are also 2 additional patterns garment patterns included but they're a surprise for the end of the course! If you would like the patterns added to your Ravelry library as well just send me an email after you enroll.

Testimonials

Learn first-hand from other knitters who have taken my KAL workshops in the past

I have LOVED this KAL!

Martha

I have LOVED this KAL! Elizabeth has painstakingly reviewed every step of her pattern and process in her videos.....I've learned SO much!! Many thanks!!

Wonderful KAL and experience

Joann

The designer, Elizabeth has created learning modules that are informative and demonstrate the steps to follow very clearly. She is available to answer questions during her in person zoom sessions as well as by email whenever needed. The pace of this KAL enabled me to follow at my own pace without any difficulty. Elizabeth is engaging, approachable and an excellent teacher and designer.

Outstanding workshop

Kathleen

Elizabeth's Alanis workshop utterly spoiled me for any other KAL. She packed in so much information and demonstrated virtually every step of the project that at no time did I feel I couldn't do it or get help. Elizabeth is a natural teacher, encouraging, anticipating questions and always available by email or during the zoom sessions for questions. The focus was exactly what I wanted: learning! As a self-taught knitter from the days waaaay before internet and youtube, I have much to learn -- and Unlearn. Thank you Elizabeth. I have to say also that your meticulous attention to detail was no surprise as your patterns (the two designs I've done) are written to generously support the learner. Now you've set the bar for KALs very high in terms of organization, instruction and presentation, and I look forward to your next offering.

5-star course, all the way!

Laurie

I thoroughly enjoyed this course and this pattern, from start to finish! Elizabeth, you're a wonderful instructor -- full of great tips and always so pleasant -- and I can't wait to learn from you again. (And I will!)

Worth every penny

Barbara

This workshop is top-notch. Elizabeth’s attention to detail and presentation clarity is second to none. There was not a single question that arose in my mind during the knitting of this project that wasn’t clearly answered in the workshop. And I learned techniques to improve areas in my knitting in which I had felt perfectly confident. This workshop will benefit not just newer knitters but also those of us who have been knitting garments for a while. And Alanis is just the cutest project. I enjoyed knitting it with this workshop so much!

Great instruction, flexible schedule

Elizabeth

Elizabeth is a precise and encouraging instructor. Her videos are excellent and prepared us to proceed at each step of the project. She answered all questions and provided support along the way. I loved the flexibility of the video modules that allow you to take the course on your own schedule.

Excellent instruction and tips

Kathy

I consider myself an advanced beginner and was unsure of how much value I would find in the course, but I was so pleasantly surprised. Elizabeth Smith is a wonderful, thorough teacher with an abundance of tips and techniques to make knitting fun and less challenging. The sweater is just a fun project and relatively easy. It was fun to hear questions and feedback from the other 70 plus students. I learned a lot, but most importantly, I gained confidence in knitting. Elizabeth is also very responsive to questions I had (via email) throughout the process. If you want to learn new tips and techniques and knit along with others on a project, this is the class. I can tell you also that her demeanor and delivery and just so terrific. She is an excellent teacher. I will be taking every class she offers.

Highly recommend

Tara

I’m so happy I decided to participate in this workshop. The Alanis is my first sweater. This workshop made it effortless and stress free. The modules and instructions are extremely well done. It is clear that Elizabeth is a skilled teacher. The pace has been appropriate. The instruction in the pattern with the added benefit of the modules made this such a great experience.

Just right!

Kate

Everything about this was just right! Unlike other KALs, this has built-in video tutorials that you can refer as needed, for up to 2 years! Clear and concise but with just the right amount of detail. As well, the biweekly Zoom meetings allowed for responsive updates and specific questions related to the pattern and process. It was so nice being able to refer to videos as needed, and take things at my own pace. Speaking of pace, unlike most other KALs, this was nicely spread out so no pressure or concerns about keeping up. As well, Elizabeth encourages you to send questions via email, and she answers very quickly. All in all, it's like having a good friend who's great at knitting sitting patiently by your side or, at the very least, available at almost a moment's notice to help you out. Super good mix of hands-on, videos, and one-on-one support! And her patterns are timeless and tasteful. Love!

Great teacher!

Jane

Great teacher! Elizabeth is so knowledgeable and personable. She gives one confidence!!!!! Love the project and teacher.
