Learn every step of knitting the Ramona Cardigan in this 6-week virtual KAL experience

Knit a sweater with confidence and learn helpful tips and tricks along the way. Cast-on begins January 25, 2025!

This educational 6-week virtual workshop is both an online course and knitalong (KAL), all wrapped up into one! I’ve created in-depth, pre-recorded video lessons (that you can watch and re-watch at your own pace and convenience) that guide you through EVERY aspect of making my popular Ramona Cardigan design. You will feel like you have a knitting teacher right next to you, guiding you through each section, row-by-row. Plus we'll have live Zoom meet-ups throughout the 6-week experience, providing opportunities for real-time connection and support.

Because it’s structured like a KAL, new video lessons will become ‘unlocked’ each week as we make our way through the pattern over the 6 weeks. But there’s no pressure to keep up with the KAL schedule - these video lessons can be watched and re-watched at your own pace, even after the KAL is over.

Upon enrollment, you'll immediately gain access to the first 3 learning modules where you'll learn all about sizing, yarn and gauge! Then starting with our January 25th kick-off, lessons will unlock each week as we make our way through every section of the pattern.

This is a great opportunity to learn to make your very first sweater! But even more experienced knitters will still enjoy all of the helpful tips shared along the way as I explain not only the "how" of each step but also the "why".

I hope you'll join me in this fun and educational KAL experience! Keep reading to learn more details, or click the "enroll" button to get started.

What you can expect

Here's what's included when you enroll in the Ramona Cardigan KAL Workshop

  • Getting started is a breeze: Upon enrollment, you'll immediately gain access to the online learning platform and the first 3 learning modules. These modules include lessons on picking a size, picking a yarn and gauge swatching. As soon as you enroll you’ll also receive a welcome email from me outlining all of the “getting started” steps.

  • Weekly email communication: Starting on our official cast-on date of January 25th, each week you’ll receive an email letting you know which learning modules and lessons have been “unlocked” for that week. These weekly emails also provide an outline of what you can expect to learn and other helpful tidbits.

  • In-depth video lessons: The course’s online learning platform is easy-to-use, ad-free and can be accessed on any kind of device. Since the video lessons are pre-recorded, you can watch and re-watch them at your own pace, and they will be available to you for 2 years (so there is no pressure to finish before the KAL is over).

  • Real-time opportunities to connect: There will be 4 live Zoom sessions held every 2 weeks, starting with our kick-off date on January 25th (they will be recorded in case you can’t meet in real-time). There’s also an optional private Facebook group you can participate in - connect with the other students, ask questions, share in-progress photos and cheer each other along as we all knit the Ramona Cardigan together.

What others have to say about my workshops

Hear first-hand from knitters who have participated in my past KAL workshops!

Worth every penny!

Barbara

This workshop is top-notch. Elizabeth’s attention to detail and presentation clarity is second to none. There was not a single question that arose in my mind during the knitting of this project that wasn’t clearly answered in the workshop. And I learned techniques to improve areas in my knitting in which I had felt perfectly confident. This workshop will benefit not just newer knitters but also those of us who have been knitting garments for a while. And Alanis is just the cutest project. I enjoyed knitting it with this workshop so much!

Loved it

Cara

This course was so well planned and executed. I loved every minute of it and learned so much. I really appreciated that I could have the lesson running on my computer right next to my garment...it felt like I was knitting right beside Elizabeth and she was guiding me every step of the way. The lessons were well paced and every detail was considered. I would definitely sign up for another course. P.S. The Thinkific platform was easy to access and navigate.

Wonderful course

Ilya

I was a relative beginner when I took this course, only having made scarves, cowls, a blanket. This was my first garment, and I learned so much! Elizabeth is an excellent teacher, and with her thorough and calm instruction, I felt supported all the way.. She completely demystified the intimidating pattern and the process felt entirely doable. I can’t wait to do another of her workshops!

Perfect course

Nancy

Elizabeth was pure perfection. She was clear, concise, and very helpful. Her presentation style was professional and friendly. Loved it all!

Fun way to complete a project

Carol

This was my first KAL and it was a fun way to complete a project. Lots of good, clear instruction from Elizabeth in our weekly sessions and speedy responses to questions asked along the way. It was great having the sessions recorded so that you are able to review the instructions whenever and however often you need to.

Highly recommend

Tara

I’m so happy I decided to participate in this workshop. The Alanis is my first sweater. This workshop made it effortless and stress free. The modules and instructions are extremely well done. It is clear that Elizabeth is a skilled teacher. The pace has been appropriate. The instruction in the pattern with the added benefit of the modules made this such a great experience.

Just right!

Kate

Everything about this was just right! Unlike other KALs, this has built-in video tutorials that you can refer as needed, for up to 2 years! Clear and concise but with just the right amount of detail. As well, the biweekly Zoom meetings allowed for responsive updates and specific Q&A related to the pattern and process. It was so nice being able to refer to videos as needed, and take things at my own pace. Speaking of pace, unlike most other KALs, this was nicely spread out so no pressure or concerns about keeping up. As well, Elizabeth encourages you to send questions via email, and she answers very quickly. All in all, it's like having a good friend who's great at knitting sitting patiently by your side or, at the very least, available at almost a moment's notice to help you out. Super good mix of hands-on, videos, and one-on-one support! And her patterns are timeless and tasteful. Love!

What a great KAL!

Adele

This was just a great experience. The videos were so clear and offered such a wealth of information; my understanding of techniques has increased and my knitting skills have really improved. I understand much better how to figure out what size to choose and how to determine the appropriate gauge. I learned some new skills (I cord, 3 needle bind off, and how to knit and purl the wraps in short rows) and how to weave in ends more skillfully. Elizabeth is a wonderful and enthusiastic teacher! Thank you!!

I've learned so much!

Martha

I have LOVED this KAL! I have knitted all my life, but it had been over 35 years since I had made a sweater. Elizabeth has painstakingly reviewed every step of her pattern and process in her videos...I've learned SO much!! Many thanks!!

Excellent

Susan

Extremely well done course. Very thorough. Great close ups of knitting techniques. Well paced. Lots of good information for newbie sweater knitters. A confidence builder -- I know now that I can knit another sweater!! Thank you!

FAQ

  • What are the pre-requisites for this course?

  • Is the pattern included with this course?

Yes, the Ramona Cardigan pattern PDF can be downloaded in the first "Welcome" video lesson (scroll under the course player to access the download). If you would like it added to your Ravelry library as well just send me an email after you enroll.
